Walnut Grove Band: Music
Almost a Bank
(Walnutt)
2007-10-19
Music, lyrics and performance by Walnutt (Stewart/Solar Nut Music/ascap)
This song is about the money monster and critics that assume money grows on trees...too bad it doesn't!
Well...wasn't sure I could produce another sounquilt back in fall of 2004 after losing much a$$. Folks assumed I'd do it and find a way. I did and in spring 2005 things picked-up again.
We did the show, Beck and I...and the GroveTrotters. We made it into a free show. Long live soundQuilt...so this song has been three years coming. I hope you like it. The tune seems fitting for the times today.

I could build you a show
I could buy you a boat
I could build you a castle,
but I'd need a loan
Money don't come easy
Trees are stripped bare
I just don't seem to care
Don't need no loan sharks
Swimming in the moat
and before we can cross it
we'll need that boat
Not that we need more blessings than these
Sunshine alone seems golden to me
Who needs the stress
Any fool will attest
that less is more
and more is less
And who wants to go to work?
And take orders from some sadistic jerk?
And who wants to sail the seas
of estrogen, testosterone and greed
Don't need noloan sharks
Banker's hours
Banker's hours
Banker's hours
Banker's hours
